I sell fashion accessories in a small, but upscale boutique in an affluent NYC neighborhood. When we opened we called Merchant Industry right at the beginning. They set us up for free for credit card processing. You have to make buying as easy as possible for the customer. I cannot imagine a business in a chic neighborhood not taking plastic. That would be committing business suicide. Maybe in the Bowery but not in this New York neighborhood

There are two convenience stores in town and we are the only one that takes credit cards. The other one does not. They think that having an ATM is going to work to have the customer take out the cash. Every day I get a new customer who did not want to pay the ATM fees and came here instead. I connected with Merchant Industry years back and it gave us an edge right off the bat. When a person has a choice, I want them to choose me and having credit card processing makes that choice easier for them.
